Flood Crisis in Ghana

32 People killed and 260,000 affected by flooding in the Northern Regions

September 2007

Greetings to all:

It is with a heavy heart and burden that I write to you at this time. There were heavy rains in Burkina Faso a country North of Ghana. They had to open the flood gates to release the surge of water. This plus the heavy rain continuing in the North caused a dam to give way in Northern Ghana. It flooded five of the Northern Regions (states) in Ghana which caused a village to be destroyed where we have mission work. Forty-four homes were destroyed along with their farmlands. $500 worth of instruments was also destroyed.

We received a phone call this week informing us of this information. Here is what we can do to help. It is the season for planting, so we can purchase seed for them. We can also help to supply clothing and replace the instruments that were lost. It takes too long to ship or send items to them. The best way we can help is through a money gram to pastors in the South and they will purchase the items and take them to those in need.

It only takes everyone doing something to make a big impact when needs are great. We are contacting all the churches and people we can since the need is so great. We will send out receipts to all who will help us if the contact information is supplied.

Please send the contributions to the address listed below. Make the checks out to Charis Bridge International. God bless you and thank you so much for your support during this terrible crisis. Pray that the needs will be met quickly and thanks again for whatever you can do.

God bless you all,

Pastors Clyde Weigel  &  Alex Nyarko
